The Wellington Company

John J. Johnson brings over 25 years of experience in development, construction, marketing, and management to his role at The Wellington Company. His portfolio includes more than $1 billion in high-profile development projects across the metropolitan area.

Notably, Mr. Johnson played a leading role in the development of a $100 million mixed-use project in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This project was a joint venture between Met Life, Forest City Development, and Jos L. Muscarrele, Inc., and it included a 28-story office tower spanning 600,000 square feet, 50,000 square feet of retail space, and a 200-room Visata International Hotel.

In the early 1990s, while working at Whiteweld, Barrister & Brown, Mr. Johnson was responsible for the construction, marketing, and leasing of a 230,000 square foot Class A office building in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey.

More recently, Mr. Johnson and his partners at Bluerock Development, a private REIT worth $2.5 billion, completed the assembly, development, and construction of "The Charles" on Manhattan's Upper East Side. This $300 million, 30-story structure comprises 30 luxury residential units designed by Ismael Leyva Architects.

Mr. Johnson continues to collaborate with renowned architects, general contractors, and major developers to identify and develop new projects in the office, hotel, and residential sectors.

Mr. Johnson earned his undergraduate degree from Pace University and a graduate degree in Real Estate from NYU. He is committed to supporting charities focused on children's education and health. Additionally, he serves on the board of Bergen Community College and is the current president of IOREBA, one of the oldest and largest real estate associations in the metropolitan area.
